February 14, 2010 my parents celebrated their 35th Wedding Anniversary and finally took some time for themselves and went on a cruise. From what I hear they had an amazing time (still waiting to see the pictures Mom), and will definitely do it again. My sisters thought it would be a good idea to throw them a surprise party to help celebrate with friends and family; however, we had to wait until the weather got a little nicer. The date was set for the middle of May.
The day went perfect! My uncle tricked them into driving down to his home (3 hours from their house – in the city they grew up and got married) and we surprised them with a limo showing up at his door to bring them to the church. We held the Open House in the gym at the Stake Center in London, Ontario. My mom had no idea what was going on until someone said, “Happy Anniversary!” It was wonderful. Many of their friends whom they haven’t seen in years were able to attend as well as most of our family. I could tell they were having a great time visiting and I know we all (kids included) had a blast.
